Geographical Influence

   In 772 Charlemagne began a 30-year military compaign to help strengthen his realm and bring order to Europe. By 800 Charlemagne was the ruler of Western Europe, no one attempted to take the kingdom away from him. He ruled over what is now most of Europe. Charlemagne set up money standards to restore commerce and he pushed to improve farming. Charlemagne's goal was to combine all Germanic people into one kingdom. (Website 1)
